Anyone looking for a boat from Almarin today buys used: the production periods of the 26 documented model ranges lie between 1967 and 2009, from the Almar 140 to the Almarine Dolphin 1200 motor yacht. When buying used, the realistic replacement value is therefore what counts, because it is carried over into the full hull cover as an agreed value and, in the event of a total loss, compensated with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Almost the entire programme consisted of motor boats, from the Almar 163 V through the Seafire to the Almar 495 V; only the Almarine Dolphin 1200 was built as a motor yacht. The brand name plays no part in your premium: it is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range, so every Almarin model is rated individually.
The Almar 430 is already a boat of this brand in our own portfolio. Since production lies in the past and the boats change owners on the used market, the question of age matters: we provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and in the Premium tariff the full hull cover applies with no age limit.

Frequent questions
Most Almarin boats date from the 1970s and 1980s. Is full hull cover still available for them?
Yes. In the Premium tariff the full hull cover has no age limit. It runs on an agreed value and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), so even an older Almar is fully protected.
What is the sum insured for a used Almar 480 V based on?
On the realistic replacement value at the time the contract is taken out. It is agreed as an agreed value and applies in the event of a claim without renegotiation, regardless of the year the boat was built.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
