Worth knowing
Bimax; cover, cost and conditions
Bimax is listed with 8 models, mostly motorboats. The range includes the Alchimia 28, 32 and 36, the Genesi 730 and 930, the Estasi 10.30 and the Walk Around 630 and 750. Build years run since 2002, lengths from 6.3 to 11 m.
Boats in this class are used in many ways in the Mediterranean: day trips, fishing, coastal passages. For insurance that means cruising area and use should be described precisely. The most expensive single claim remains drive damage after grounding, for which comprehensive all risks hull cover is needed.
NAMMERT insures Bimax boats regardless of build year and place of purchase, including boats bought directly in Italy. If the boat stays in the water all year, hull cover should also include storm damage at the berth. You can calculate the premium for liability and hull cover in the online calculator in about 5 minutes.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What does walkaround mean?
A boat whose cabin you can walk all the way around, handy for fishing and coming alongside. The layout changes nothing for insurance; what counts is length, engine power, value and cruising area.
Is storm damage at the berth covered?
Under hull cover yes, provided storm is included as a peril. Proper mooring lines and chafe protection matter, because damage caused by inadequate securing can lead to deductions.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
