Sixty model ranges are recorded for Conyplex, listed under the name Contest. They are mostly sailing yachts, for example the Contest 50 CS, which has run since 1999 and continues today, together with motor yachts such as the Contest 52 MC. From our own portfolio, the Contest 29 is insured with us.
We write third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out cover online; above that we review the application individually. In full hull cover you set an agreed value, and in the event of a claim compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Model ranges such as the Contest 42 CS, the Contest 62 CS or the Contest 72 CS are still listed today. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. Cover applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while in transit, where limited hull cover includes fire, storm, lightning strike and theft.

Frequent questions
How many Contest model ranges do you have on file?
Sixty model ranges are on file, mostly sailing yachts such as the Contest 55 CS or the Contest 59 CS, together with motor yachts such as the Contest 52 MC. The Contest 29 is insured from our own portfolio.
Can I insure a large Contest online?
Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy is taken out online. If the value that was set is higher, we review the application individually, which changes nothing about the scope of cover.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
