After buying a used boat, some disputes only really begin, for example about concealed defects. That is why NAMMERT also offers legal expenses cover for water sports, which covers disputes after the purchase of a used boat or with a shipyard. When buying a used Jata motorboat too, this is a sensible addition.
The programme is broad: 47 model ranges, among them the California Skiff models and the RioMar range, built since 2000 and continued to this day. Whether new boat or used boat, the premium depends on the type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range, never on the brand.
A Jata 600 CC is already sailing in our own portfolio. You can take out the policy online up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros, and if a contract already exists with another provider, NAMMERT cancels it for you free of charge. That way you switch without any effort of your own.

I bought a used Jata RioMar and discovered defects. What does the legal expenses cover include?
The legal expenses cover for water sports covers disputes after the purchase of a used boat or with a shipyard. It is offered together with the boat insurance.
Is a new Jata California Skiff assessed differently from a used one?
The premium follows the same factors: type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range. Place of purchase and previous owners play no part.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.
Waters
Inland, coastal and abroad; plan fairways, bridge clearances, draught and tides.
Equipment
Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.
Cruising range
The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
