After buying a used boat, some defects only show up on the water. That is why NAMMERT also offers legal expenses cover for water sports, which covers disputes following the purchase of a used boat or with a yard. Since production at Joda ended in 2014, every boat of the brand changes hands second-hand today; legal expenses cover is then a sensible addition to hull insurance.
Motorboats and motor yachts such as the 230 Bahia, the Caribic 290 or the Monaco 310 were built between 1989 and 2014. In our own portfolio a 280 Cariba, a 5700 and a Monaco 310 are already sailing. What counts for the premium are the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the engine power and the cruising range; the brand name plays no part.
Set the sum insured according to the current replacement value: it is settled as an agreed value, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, launching and on the transport route.

What does legal expenses cover do for me if the Joda I bought used has defects?
Legal expenses cover for water sports covers disputes after the purchase of a used boat or with a yard. NAMMERT offers it alongside, and it adds the legal side of a boat purchase to third-party liability and hull insurance.
Can a Joda Monaco 310 from the nineties still get full hull cover with no deductions?
Yes. The value is settled as an agreed value, compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. A Monaco 310 is already sailing in our own portfolio.

On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
