Karnic Boats; cover, cost and conditions
Karnic builds console and cabin boats between 5 and 9 metres with a deep V hull in Cyprus, designed for the Mediterranean and for rougher seas. The deep V hull rides softly but needs power, and the boats are often engined at the upper limit. For insurance the engine power counts twice: it determines the third-party liability premium via the kW scale and it raises the hull risk, because higher speed means harder damage.
Anyone operating their Karnic in the Mediterranean should choose the cruising range carefully. North Sea/Baltic Sea and Mediterranean is the appropriate level; anyone going to North Africa or to Turkey needs the next one. A loss outside the agreed cruising range is not covered, the extension costs a manageable surcharge and can be agreed at any time, including at short notice before a trip.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What happens in the event of a loss outside my cruising range?
Then there is no insurance cover. The cruising range is stated in the policy document and can be extended at any time, including at short notice before a trip, so report it beforehand and not afterwards.

Series by Karnic, with value and cover
SL 601 / 651 is a motorboat from Karnic, built since 2008, and today changes hands at between €35,000 and €110,000.
SL 800 / 900 is a motorboat from Karnic, built since 2012, and today changes hands at between €80,000 and €220,000.
Bluewater 2250 / 2460 is a motorboat from Karnic, built from 2005 to 2020, and today changes hands at between €25,000 and €80,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
