The composite versions are in the middle four-figure range and justify hull insurance.
With a composite sea kayak, repairability is the argument for the hull insurance: laminate damage can be repaired properly, and the repair case occurs more often than a total loss. A crack after contact with rock, a damaged hull side after a hard landing in the surf, both are repairable and covered by the full hull cover.
