Anytec builds fast aluminium boats in Sweden between 6 and 8.7 metres with a pronounced deep V, boats that run softly in a seaway at high speed and are powered accordingly. High power means two things for the insurance: the third-party liability premium rises along the kW scale, and hull insurance losses turn out harder, because the energy in a loss increases with the square of the speed.
With fast boats a second topic is added: personal injury on board. A jump over a wave at 40 knots regularly leads to back and spinal injuries without any third party being involved. Third-party liability does not respond there, because nobody is liable; the personal accident cover for people on board does. Licence
