Worth knowing
Monark; cover, cost and conditions
Two model ranges are listed under Monark, the 2308 C motorboat and the 3211 V motor yacht, both with build years from 1973 to 1980. Production lies far in the past. For boats from this period, full hull cover remains open in the Premium tariff with no age limit, with an agreed value as the basis.
The agreed value determines what is paid in the event of a claim, and there is no deduction for depreciation (new for old). Collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard are covered. Limited hull cover carries fire, storm, lightning strike and the theft of the entire boat.
A boat from the 1970s often has several owners behind it. We insure regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners. If a dispute arises after the purchase, the legal expenses cover for water sports applies, which can be taken out together with the policy.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How high is the compensation for an old boat?
It is based on the agreed value that has been agreed, not on an estimated residual value. There is no deduction for depreciation (new for old), and in the Premium tariff no age limit applies either.
Does limited hull cover pay for storm damage at the berth?
Storm is one of the limited hull cover perils, as are fire, lightning strike, the theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for your boat depends less on the brand than on engine output, how a claim is settled and the waters you sail.

Series by Monark, build years and cover
Monark 2308 C is a motorboat from Monark, built from 1973 to 1980.
Monark 3211 V is a motor yacht from Monark, built from 1973 to 1980.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
