Anyone taking over a ketch bought second hand has to set the replacement value properly. At Aegean Yacht of Turkey, the 26 to 32 m ketch goes back as far as 1995 and is still built today, while the 30 to 40 metre motorsailer began in 2000. For vessels of this kind we agree an agreed value, on the basis of which the settlement is made with no deduction for depreciation in the event of a claim.
The yard builds charter yachts in wood and steel, large motorsailers and gulets. Where the sum insured exceeds 2.5 million euros we examine each case individually; below that, taking out the policy online is possible. The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium.
For cruising areas outside Germany we issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. In this way a vessel of this size stays covered without interruption.

How is the value of a 32 m ketch recorded in the contract?
By means of an agreed value. It is settled when the policy is taken out and is the basis of the settlement in the event of a claim, with no deduction for depreciation. In the Premium tariff this applies with no age limit.
What role does the year of construction play with a motorsailer from 2000?
We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. The year of construction feeds into the premium together with the type of boat, the value, the sail area and the cruising range; the brand itself never does.

Aegean Motorsegler 30 to 40 m is a sailing yacht from Aegean Yacht (Türkiye), built since 2000, and today changes hands at between €2,200,000 and €5,500,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
