Eighteen ABIM motor yachts are on record, built since 2003. Almost all belong to the Abim Classic line, built in close steps from the 98 OK through the 108, 114, 118, 124, the 128 in AK and OK versions, the 134 and 144 up to the 154. The Abim Ellips 142 completes the range, and lengths run from 10 to 15.4 metres.
The close model spacing makes ABIM straightforward to insure. All boats sit between ten and a good fifteen metres, so the main task is to state value and cruising area accurately. For the early model years from 2003 an agreed value works better than a depreciated value, because the fit out and state of care define the worth. Anyone using the yacht on inland waters and on coastal waters as well should choose the cruising area accordingly from the start.

The 98 OK measures ten metres, the 154 a good fifteen. Length, value and cruising area together define the scope of hull cover, while the structure of the policy stays the same.
Is an agreed value worthwhile on a 2003 Abim Classic 118?
Yes. For a model year from the start of the line an agreed value avoids any discussion about depreciated value, because the insured sum is set beforehand.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
