Worth knowing
Circa Marine; cover, cost and conditions
Aluminium expedition yachts are the focus at Circa Marine of New Zealand. The FPB 64 and 78 Explorer have been in production since 2010 and the FPB 97 since 2015, in each case to this day, in lengths from 19 to 30 metres. FPB yachts are built for ocean passages under power, which makes the cruising range the central factor.
Anyone covering long distances needs solid proof in foreign ports. We issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. You set the agreed cruising range in advance so that cover applies without interruption along the planned route.
Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you can take out the policy online; above that an individual assessment follows. Underneath sits the third-party liability cover with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
In which languages is the proof for foreign ports available?
You receive the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. With it you prove your existing cover in foreign ports and to authorities.
Does the hull insurance also apply on passages at night?
Yes. What matters is the agreed cruising range, which you can adjust before longer passages.

Series by Circa Marine, with value and cover
FPB 64 / 78 Explorer is a motor yacht from Circa Marine (New Zealand), built since 2010, and today changes hands at between €2,400,000 and €5,500,000.
FPB 97 is a motor yacht from Circa Marine (New Zealand), built since 2015, and today changes hands at between €5,500,000 and €9,500,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
