Three model ranges are recorded: the Expedition 40 since 2006, the Expedition 43 since 2013 and the Element model, which was built from 2007 to 2019. All three are motor yachts. With yachts in this class it is worth looking at the sum insured, because the route to the contract depends on it.
Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy is taken out online. If the value is higher, we review the individual case and agree the cover. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros always forms the basis, in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels.
An Expedition 40 from the earliest years of construction does not fall outside the cover. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, and full hull cover pays according to the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without an age limit. Collision and grounding are included.

From what sum insured onwards is an individual review necessary?
Up to 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online. Above that we review the individual case and agree the cover for the yacht with you personally.
What does full hull cover include for a motor yacht?
Collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. Compensation is paid according to the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff without an age limit.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).

Fathom Expedition 40 is a motor yacht from Fathom Yachts, built since 2006.
Fathom Expedition 43 is a motor yacht from Fathom Yachts, built since 2013.
Fathom Element is a motor yacht from Fathom Yachts, built from 2007 to 2019.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
