Worth knowing
GT Yachts Ltd.; cover, cost and conditions
Five ranges carry the abbreviation GT. GT35, GT30 and GT40 began in 2014, the GT47 and the GT325 were added in 2018. The GT30 ended in 2021, the GT40 in 2022, the remaining three run to this day. Because they are sailing yachts, the sail area enters into the premium instead of engine power.
Alongside the sail area, the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range count. The brand name stays out of it. Whether a GT30 from 2014 or a GT47 from current production is insured changes nothing in this approach, but it does change the agreed value that is arranged.
Club races are included from the Basis-Plus level upwards. Races with a scoring status you state when taking out the policy, so that they stand in the contract. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros remains the basis of the cover at every level.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are races with a GT35 covered as well?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. Races with a scoring status you report when taking out the policy, and they are then taken into account in the contract.
How does the premium differ between the GT30 and the GT47?
Through sail area, value, year of construction, type of boat and cruising range, not through the brand. Two yachts from the same yard can therefore produce very different premiums.

Series by GT Yachts Ltd., build years and cover
GT35 is a sailing yacht from GT Yachts Ltd., built since 2014.
GT47 is a sailing yacht from GT Yachts Ltd., built since 2018.
GT325 is a sailing yacht from GT Yachts Ltd., built since 2018.
GT40 is a sailing yacht from GT Yachts Ltd., built from 2014 to 2022.
GT30 is a sailing yacht from GT Yachts Ltd., built from 2014 to 2021.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
