Worth knowing
JS Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
With a sailing yacht, the sail area takes the place of the engine power when the premium is calculated. One range from JS Yachts is recorded, the JS 9000 from the construction years 1999 to 2008. Together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range, this produces the premium that we quote to you.
If the boat is sailed in club races, that is included from the Basis-Plus level upwards. You state races with scoring status when taking out the contract, so that the cover for these outings is clearly recorded. Behind it stands third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
Production ended in 2008, and no further details about the yard are available to us. That changes nothing about access: we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. In the hull cover an agreed value applies, and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are races with a JS 9000 covered?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. For races with scoring status you make a statement when taking out the contract, so that these outings are clearly regulated in the contract.
What role does the sail area play for the premium?
With sailing boats it takes the place of the engine power. Together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it determines the premium, regardless of the manufacturer.

Series by JS Yachts, build years and cover
JS 9000 is a sailing yacht from JS Yachts, built from 1999 to 2008.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
