Five ranges with years of construction from 1996 to 2005 are recorded under LYC, three sailing yachts as well as the motor yachts Chagos 21 and Trawler 60. Further details are not available. Sail and motor are rated differently in the premium, once via the sail area and once via the engine power.
Anyone calling at foreign harbours with a yacht of this kind will be asked for proof of insurance. We issue the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. It is enclosed with the policy without you having to request it separately.
Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
