Worth knowing
Northern Light Composites; cover, cost and conditions
For Northern Light Composites one sailing yacht is recorded, the Ecoracer 25 with a production period from 2019 to 2024. With a single, manageable range the question of insurability often arises. Small series and self-built boats can be insured with us; a large programme is not a condition.
We need the details of the boat: type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range. The premium arises from these, not from the name of the yard. For the full hull cover we agree an agreed value, which applies in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation.
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, and races with scoring status you report when taking out the policy. The third-party liability ranges from a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, and the limited hull cover covers fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the whole boat and damage in winter storage.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can boats from small-scale production be insured?
Yes, we take small series and self-built boats into cover. The basis is the details of the individual boat and the agreed value that was set, not the number of units built by the yard.
What applies to races with scoring status?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. You state races with scoring status when taking out the policy, so that they are expressly taken into account in the cover.

Series by Northern Light Composites, build years and cover
Ecoracer 25 is a sailing yacht from Northern Light Composites, built from 2019 to 2024.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
