Worth knowing
Shepherd; cover, cost and conditions
One motor yacht is recorded for Shepherd, the Shepherd 46 with years of construction from 1965 to 1972. No further model ranges are available to us. Production ended long ago, and what counts for the policy is not the year of construction but the agreed value that we set together when cover is taken out.
The full hull cover from NAMMERT works with this agreed value instead of a falling current value. Payment is made with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners, so a year of construction from the sixties does not stand in the way of acceptance.
The third-party liability is available with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the levels Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. The full hull cover includes collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard. Cover also applies in winter storage, when craning and when launching.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is there an age limit in the full hull cover?
Not in the Premium tariff. There we pay with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and with no age limit, so that even a motor yacht built in 1965 remains covered at the full agreed value.
What goes into the premium for a Shepherd 46?
Type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range. The brand itself never enters into the calculation. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out cover online.

Series by Shepherd, build years and cover
Shepherd 46 is a motor yacht from Shepherd, built from 1965 to 1972.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
