Worth knowing
Sörland; cover, cost and conditions
Three ranges are recorded under Sörland: the motor yacht Snekling 25 from 1975 to 1988 as well as the sailing yachts Willing 31 from 1972 to 1988 and Willing from 1972 to 1984. Boats from these years change hands second hand today, and the contract has to reflect the replacement value.
That is what the agreed value in the contract is for. Indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"), in the Premium tariff with no age limit, regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. The legal expenses cover for water sports applies in disputes after the purchase of a used boat or with a yard.
For the Snekling 25 the engine output goes into the premium, for the Willing models the sail area. Type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range are added to this. With a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, third-party liability remains the basis of the cover.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What applies when buying a second-hand Willing 31?
The contract is based on an agreed value, and indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"). Previous owners, place of purchase and year of construction play no part in insurability.
Does the legal expenses cover include disputes after the purchase?
The legal expenses cover for water sports is offered alongside and applies in disputes after the purchase of a used boat or with a yard. It can be chosen independently of the hull cover.

Series by Sörland, build years and cover
Snekling 25 is a motor yacht from Sörland, built from 1975 to 1988.
Willing 31 is a sailing yacht from Sörland, built from 1972 to 1988.
Willing is a sailing yacht from Sörland, built from 1972 to 1984.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
