Worth knowing
Tboat; cover, cost and conditions
Sail area instead of engine power: with the T 750, T 830i and T 870 ranges, built between 1999 and 2019, the area of the sails goes into the premium. Added to this are the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The yard itself never affects the premium.
Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards, and races with ranking status are declared when taking out the policy. Sporting use is thus properly reflected in the contract as well. The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in three tariff levels.
All three ranges ran out in 2019, so second-hand boats are what is on the market. We insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners and agree an agreed value for the value. An existing previous policy we cancel free of charge under the switching service.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is the sail area taken into account in the application?
With sailing yachts it replaces the engine power as a premium factor. Together with the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range this produces the premium; the brand is left out.
Are races with a T 870 covered?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus onwards. Report races with ranking status when taking out the policy, then this use is covered by the contract.

What matters for sailing boats and sailing yachts is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Nautical information What counts before you cast off, papers, equipment, waters
Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.
Waters
Inland, coastal and abroad; plan fairways, bridge clearances, draught and tides.
Equipment
Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.
Cruising range
The agreed cruising range is stated in the policy and can be extended at any time.
Weather
Check wind force in Beaufort and wind direction before casting off, and allow for gusts.
General guidance, not a complete account; what governs are the rules of the waters you are on and your boat’s manual. Current wind force and direction for your waters are shown on the Home.
Series by Tboat, build years and cover
T 830i is a sailing yacht from Tboat, built from 2012 to 2019.
T 750 is a sailing yacht from Tboat, built from 2007 to 2014.
T 870 is a sailing yacht from Tboat, built from 1999 to 2010.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
