Worth knowing
Windrose; cover, cost and conditions
Documented is the sailing yacht Windrose 35 with years of construction from 1975 to 1984; no further model ranges are recorded. For a boat of this age the agreed value is a point that matters: the value is set in advance, and compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
In the Premium tariff, full hull cover applies with no age limit, so that a yacht from 1975 can also be held under this scope. In addition, limited hull cover includes fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage.
The premium takes in the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the sail area and the cruising range. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros forms the basis in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels, and club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Are there restrictions in full hull cover for older yachts?
In the Premium tariff, full hull cover applies with no age limit. In the other levels the scope depends on the chosen tariff, and compensation is always paid according to the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
How is the value of an old yacht determined?
By way of a schedule of the hull, the rig, permanently installed electronics and equipment. From this the agreed value is set, which determines the compensation in the event of a claim.

Series by Windrose, build years and cover
Windrose 35 is a sailing yacht from Windrose, built from 1975 to 1984.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
