Worth knowing
3D Tender; cover, cost and conditions
Anyone taking over a used tender should establish its value before the purchase. The Ultimate 240 and 320 have been built since 2005, the Dream 400 and 550 since 2008, and both model ranges continue to this day. With 3D Tender, from the tenders and small RIBs segment, what counts for full hull cover is the agreed value, which is settled with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
3D Tender mainly builds tenders for yachts, and these sit on deck or in the davits and go the same way as the mother ship. Cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while in transit. Damage occurring while putting the boat in the water is therefore not excluded from cover, and a boat trailer is included at no extra premium.
The sizes from 2 to 6 metres remain well below the threshold for taking out cover online, which is possible up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros. The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium tiers. The premium is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range, never on the brand.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does a tender count as a boat in its own right in the policy?
Yes, a tender is insured in its own right. Third-party liability and hull insurance then also apply when the boat is carried on the deck of a yacht, is in winter storage or is being craned.
How does the year of construction affect full hull cover?
In the Premium tier the agreed value applies with no age limit. Even with an Ultimate from the first years of construction from 2005 onwards, a claim is settled with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

Series by 3D Tender, with value and cover
3D Tender Ultimate 240 / 320 is an inflatable without engine from 3D Tender (France), built since 2005, and today changes hands at between €2,000 and €9,000.
3D Tender Dream 400 / 550 is an inflatable with engine from 3D Tender (France), built since 2008, and today changes hands at between €9,000 and €35,000.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repairs are predictable. Still, set the value at replacement cost, including sails, rigging or gear you bought later.
Even without an engine the rule holds: a tear from impact or vandalism is covered, UV ageing is wear.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On an inflatable the cause decides, not the damage: a tear from impact is covered, porous fabric after years in the sun is not. The outboard belongs in the policy with its serial number.
