Worth knowing
Abalon Marine; cover, cost and conditions
With the Abalon 38 there is a single motor yacht model range, built between 2003 and 2012. Anyone taking over such a yacht today buys it used. For the insurance, therefore, what counts is the value you applied at the time of purchase. In full hull cover NAMMERT agrees an agreed value which applies in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
The production period is closed, no new units are being added. Spare parts and equipment therefore come from existing stock or from the accessories market. Full hull cover covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard, in the Premium tariff with no age limit for the boat.
The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you take out the policy online, above that we examine the individual case. The premium is based on the type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power and cruising range, never on the brand.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the year of construction of an Abalon 38 matter for hull insurance?
We insure irrespective of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. In the Premium tariff the age limit in full hull cover does not apply, and indemnity is paid on the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").
How does switching from an existing policy work?
NAMMERT cancels your previous policy free of charge, so that no gap arises. You then receive the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages.

Series by Abalon Marine, build years and cover
Abalon 38 is a motor yacht from Abalon Marine, built from 2003 to 2012.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
