Older motor yachts lose value quickly in hull insurance when a depreciated market value is applied. At Alpa the build years of the Fly models go back to 1998, while individual model ranges are still listed today. NAMMERT instead agrees an agreed value and pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).
We have no further information about the yard itself. The 15 model ranges show that the Fly versions, the Navigator and the Patriot ran alongside one another for more than two decades. The premium depends on the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the engine output and the cruising range, never on the name of the brand.
Whether a boat comes from the late nineties or from more recent production makes no difference to acceptance: we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners. In the Premium tariff the compensation applies with no age limit, and third-party liability stands behind it with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.

Is the Premium tariff worthwhile for an Alpa 42 Fly from 1999?
In the Premium tariff the age limit for compensation with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) does not apply. Particularly with build years from the nineties this affects the amount paid out.
How is the agreed value determined for an older Fly version?
The agreed value is agreed between you and us when the contract is taken out and remains decisive in the event of a claim. There is no deduction for depreciation (new for old), and no depreciated market value is set against it.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
