Aqua Star of Guernsey is listed with 22 models, all motor yachts. Current sizes run from the Aqua-Star 48 through 57, 60, 65, 74, 75 and 80 to the 85, while earlier years produced the Oceanranger 38 and the Ocean Star 45. Build years run since 1975, lengths from 8.2 to 25.9 m.
The yard builds sturdy ships for demanding waters, many of them one offs to customer specification. For insurance that means two things: the individual fit out has to be captured through an agreed fixed value, otherwise a standard figure falls short. And because these boats genuinely cover long distances, the cruising area must be set to the passages planned rather than to the home port.

My Aqua Star was built to my specification. What does that mean for the value?
It is set through an agreed fixed value based on build documentation, the equipment list and, where appropriate, a survey. The individual fit out is then part of the sum and does not have to be proved after a loss.
What is a displacement boat?
A ship that travels through the water rather than planing on it. It is slower but more seaworthy and more economical. That matters for insurance in that such boats make longer passages and need a wider cruising area.
