Worth knowing
Aquinus Sp. z o.o.; cover, cost and conditions
Three ranges are on file: the Aquinus C 57 since 2011 as well as the C48 and the M57 since 2014, all three still in production today. Two of them are recorded as cabin catamarans, one as a sailing yacht. For each of these boats we set an agreed value in the contract, on which compensation in the event of a claim is based.
How the premium arises depends on the individual boat. Type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range are taken into account, but not the name of the shipyard. The policy is carried by third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels.
Anyone crossing the boundaries of their waters with a multihull receives the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. The hull insurance has neither a time window nor a night clause. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros you can take out the policy online; above that an individual assessment follows.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How is the value of an Aquinus C 57 recorded in the contract?
Through an agreed value. It is set when the policy is taken out and applies in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff additionally with no age limit in the full hull cover.
Does the cover also apply on passages after nightfall?
Yes. The hull insurance has no time window and no night clause. What matters is the agreed cruising range, not the time of day. Winter storage, craning, launching and transit are likewise included.

Series by Aquinus Sp. z o.o., build years and cover
Aquinus C48 is a cabin catamaran from Aquinus Sp. z o.o., built since 2014.
Aquinus C 57 is a cabin catamaran from Aquinus Sp. z o.o., built since 2011.
Aquinus M57 is a sailing yacht from Aquinus Sp. z o.o., built since 2014.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
