Worth knowing
Baltec Werft GmbH; cover, cost and conditions
Baltec Werft GmbH is recorded with 14 models, eight sailing catamarans and six power catamarans. On the power side stand the Powercat 40, 44 and 50 at 12 to 14.9 m and the Fastferry 56, 72 and 85 at 17 to 26 m. The sailing side is formed by the Visiona range with the 40, 43, 44, 47, 53 and 63 between 12 and 19 m. Recorded production runs from 1987 to 2007.
Baltec catamarans cover a very wide span, so stating length, value and use precisely in the application is decisive. A Visiona 40 as a cruising catamaran and a Fastferry 85 are entirely different risks, the one private and the other as a rule commercial. If a boat is used to carry passengers or for charter, that must be declared. For build years from 1987, an agreed value is the clearer basis, because many of these multihulls have been refitted.
NAMMERT insures Baltec Werft regardless of year of build and place of purchase. Private sailing catamarans run through the online quote tool, which returns a premium in about five minutes; commercially operated units are assessed individually.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is a Visiona 47 insured as a cruising catamaran?
Yes. For private sailing catamarans of this size, value, cruising area and berth are what count, together with a separate entry for rig and sails.
What applies to the Fastferry models?
They are mostly in commercial service. Passenger carriage and charter must be stated in the application, because they are rated differently from private use.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
