More damage occurs in winter storage than many owners expect. From Bodewes we have three model ranges on record: Commander 6, Commander 7 and Commander 8, built between 1965 and 1977. For such boats our cover also applies ashore, in winter storage, during craning and during launching.
Limited hull cover includes fire, storm, lightning strike, the theft of the entire boat and expressly damage in winter storage. Anyone who wants to go further adds full hull cover with collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard.
Production ended in 1977, which is why only used units are on the water today. Their age is no obstacle to acceptance: we provide cover regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners and arrange an agreed value on the basis of which compensation is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old).

Frequent questions
Is damage covered while the boat is ashore?
Yes. Cover applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while in transit. Damage in winter storage is already included in limited hull cover.
Can a Commander 8 from 1965 still be given hull insurance?
Yes. In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies with no age limit. The basis is an agreed value that is paid out in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
