Worth knowing
CAT-STADL; cover, cost and conditions
Five open catamarans of the Eagle range, from the 15 Beach through the 18 HT to the 20 HF, have been in the programme since 2001 and up to the present day. If such a catamaran is brought to the water on the trailer, the boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no additional premium, and there is cover during launching as well.
On catamarans without an engine, the sail area takes the place of the engine power. Together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it determines the premium, while the brand plays no part. Club races are included from the Basis-Plus tariff upwards.
Between the seasons the hulls stand ashore. The cover applies in winter storage, during craning and along the transport route, and the limited hull cover covers fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage. The full hull cover adds collision, grounding and vandalism.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the trailer for an Eagle 18 have to be insured separately?
No. The boat trailer is included in the boat insurance at no additional premium. The cover extends to the transport route, launching, craning and winter storage.
Do club races count towards the insurance cover?
From the Basis-Plus tariff upwards club races are included. Races with scoring status are to be stated when taking out the policy, so that they are recorded in it.

Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit, not on the water.
