Coastal Craft is listed with 16 models, mostly motor yachts. The range includes the 30 and 33 Profish, the 33 Express, the 42 Express Fish, the 40, 45 and 56, and the 65 Concord and the IPS models 400 and 450. Build years run since 2007, lengths from 8.6 to 20.4 m.
Aluminium hulls behave differently from composite. They absorb impact without shattering, but they react sensitively to galvanic corrosion, for instance when stray current runs in the harbour or the anodes are used up. For insurance that means corrosion is wear, while damage caused by an event is covered. Regular anode checks preserve the value and are therefore also an insurance matter.

Frequent questions
Is galvanic corrosion on an aluminium hull covered?
No, it counts as wear and develops over a longer period. What is covered are sudden events. Regularly checked anodes and sound harbour wiring are the most effective protection.
What is an IPS drive?
A pod drive with forward facing propellers under the hull. It is efficient and manoeuvrable but specialist work after damage. That is why the type of drive should appear in the policy.

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
