Worth knowing
Comet-Plast; cover, cost and conditions
Two ranges are recorded at Comet-Plast: the Comet 26 motor yacht from the years 1977 to 1993 and the Comet 21 motor boat from 1981 to 1990. Boats of these years spend the winter ashore, and that is precisely where the insurance cover continues to apply.
Limited hull cover bears damage in winter storage as well as fire, storm, lightning strike and theft of the entire boat.
Because production lies in the past, the valuation matters. Full hull cover works with an agreed value and indemnifies with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit. Cover is granted regardless of the year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is a boat covered in winter storage?
Yes. The cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and while in transit. Limited hull cover expressly includes damage in winter storage.
How is a Comet 26 from the eighties indemnified?
According to the agreed value that has been arranged, with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). In the Premium tariff this applies with no age limit, so that the year of construction does not reduce the amount of the indemnity.

Series by Comet-Plast, build years and cover
Comet 26 is a motor yacht from Comet-Plast, built from 1977 to 1993.
Comet 21 is a motorboat from Comet-Plast, built from 1981 to 1990.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
