Cormorant; cover, cost and conditions
Four ranges are recorded: Day Boat 550, Eden Cabin Cruiser and Leader 460 as motor boats as well as the Challenger Scout as a sailing yacht, with years of build between 1970 and 1978. Production lies in the past, but cover is nevertheless provided regardless of the year of build, the place of purchase and previous owners.
Motor boat and sailing yacht under one name mean two ways of calculating: for the motor boat the engine power counts, for the sailing yacht the sail area. Added to this are the type of boat, value, year of build and cruising range. Legal expenses cover is also offered alongside the boat insurance.
The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros, supplemented by limited hull cover or full hull cover. Full hull cover works with an agreed value and settles claims with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old"). Cover also applies in winter storage, during craning, during launching and on the transport route.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is the Challenger Scout calculated differently from a Day Boat 550?
Yes. For the sailing yacht the sail area counts, for the motor boat the engine power. The type of boat, value, year of build and cruising range are taken into account in both cases, the name of the yard never.
Is there anything else to choose besides third-party liability and hull insurance?
Legal expenses cover is offered alongside the boat insurance, as is the switching service for moving from an existing contract. The boat trailer is included at no extra premium.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
