Worth knowing
De Boer & Müller; cover, cost and conditions
Anyone taking over a Dutch-Dandy is buying a boat from the years of construction 1969 to 1979, that is second or third hand. It is exactly there that disputes arise after the purchase. Legal expenses cover for water sports can be included with us and also takes effect in disputes with a yard.
More than this single model range is not recorded for De Boer und Müller, neither dimensions nor details of the building programme. For the insurance contract that is of no consequence: we insure irrespective of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners, and the agreed value fixes the value bindingly.
In the full hull cover the deduction for depreciation, new for old, is waived, in the Premium tariff with no age limit. As a sailing yacht the Dutch-Dandy is classified by way of the sail area, not by way of the engine output. Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros remains the basis of the contract.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Does the insurance help in a dispute after buying a used boat?
For that we also offer legal expenses cover for water sports. It takes effect in a dispute after buying a used boat as well as in disputes with a yard and is held together with the boat insurance.
Does the number of previous owners matter?
No. We insure irrespective of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners. What is decisive are the agreed value and the details of the type of boat, the value, the year of construction, the sail area and the cruising range.

Series by De Boer & Müller, build years and cover
Dutch-Dandy is a sailing yacht from De Boer & Müller, built from 1969 to 1979.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
