Exploder; cover, cost and conditions

Four model ranges are recorded: two cabin catamarans, among them the Exploder 20 from 2004 to 2010, as well as the open catamarans F18 Scorpion and A13. The Exploder range has been listed since 2015 up to the present day. For the premium, type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and cruising range count.

The name of the yard does not enter into it, but the use does. Club races are included from the Basis-Plus level upwards. You state races with scoring status when taking out the contract, so that competitive use also remains covered and no gap arises in the event of a claim.

Hull cover accompanies the boat ashore, in winter storage, during craning, launching and in transit. A boat trailer is included at no extra premium. Full hull cover pays according to the agreed value with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) and covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts.

Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. You report races with scoring status when taking out the contract, and the cover then also applies during these events.

What details are needed for a catamaran?

Type of boat, value, year of construction, engine power or sail area and the cruising range. The premium follows from these details, and the brand is of no significance for the calculation.

A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).

Registration

Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.

Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.

What this means for the cover

As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.

On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.

For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.

Open catamarans are beached and trailed, so most damage happens ashore and in transit, not on the water.
