Worth knowing
George Mottle; cover, cost and conditions
One model range is on file, the Mottle 33, built between 1972 and 1991. A yacht from those years usually has several owners behind it. That plays no part for the contract, because we insure regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.
What is decisive instead is which value is stated in the contract. Under full hull cover it is agreed as an agreed value and replaced in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), under the Premium tariff without an age limit for the boat. This means the indemnity does not depend on the age of the Mottle 33.
The premium for a sailing yacht results from sail area, value, year of construction and cruising range. Club races are included from the Basis-Plus level, and you state races with scoring status when taking out the policy. Third-party liability is available with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can a Mottle 33 from the seventies be insured?
Yes. Year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners do not stand in the way of the contract. For hull cover the value is agreed as an agreed value, and under the Premium tariff indemnity is paid with no deduction for depreciation (new for old) without an age limit.
What does limited hull cover include for a sailing yacht?
Fire, storm, lightning strike, the theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage. Full hull cover adds collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts.

Series by George Mottle, build years and cover
Mottle 33 is a sailing yacht from George Mottle, built from 1972 to 1991.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
