Worth knowing
IBYC; cover, cost and conditions
Three ranges are recorded: the sailing boat Super Pescadou and the motor yachts IBYC 31 Fisherman and IBYC 31 GT, built between 1973 and 1983. Sail and motor therefore stand side by side. NAMMERT insures both types of boat, each according to its own data.
Anyone crossing the border with such a yacht needs proof in the language of the harbour. NAMMERT issues the international certificate of insurance automatically in ten languages. The basis remains third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros.
With boats from the seventies the valuation counts: full hull cover works with an agreed value and pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without an age limit. Collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts are included.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
In which languages is the certificate of insurance available?
In ten languages, automatically with the contract. You do not have to request it separately and can present it directly in foreign harbours.
Are sailing boat and motor boat classified separately?
Yes. With a motor boat the engine power counts, with a sailing boat the sail area. In each case type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range are added.
The cover that fits
For the whole class of boat
What matters for motor yachts is the same across every brand; engine output, how a claim is settled, cruising range and theft protection. The class page lists every point and every brand in this class.

Series by IBYC, build years and cover
Super Pescadou is a sailing boat from IBYC, built from 1973 to 1983.
IBYC 31 Fisherman is a motor yacht from IBYC, built from 1975 to 1982.
IBYC 31 GT is a motor yacht from IBYC, built from 1973 to 1981.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
On motor yachts the drive and the electronics together make up about half the value. Both belong in the valuation, otherwise the sum insured is too low.
