Worth knowing
Jongsma; cover, cost and conditions
Four sailing yachts of the Caresse range are recorded for Jongsma, the Caresse itself as well as the 34, the 43 and the 46, built between 1971 and 1978. On boats from that period the current market value regularly leads to dispute, and that is exactly what an agreed value in the contract avoids.
We fix the value before the contract begins. If a total loss occurs, this sum is paid out with no deduction for depreciation (new for old). In the Premium tariff there is no age limit for this, so even a yacht from the first build year remains in full cover.
Since production ended in 1978, these yachts today change owner exclusively as used boats. Year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners change nothing about acceptance. Anyone who fears a dispute arising from the purchase can add the legal expenses cover for water sports.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How does the agreed value come about?
It results from the value you state including the equipment and which we record in the contract. This sum is the yardstick in the event of a claim, not the current market value.
Is there an age limit in full hull cover?
In the Premium tariff we waive the deduction for depreciation (new for old) without an age limit. Yachts from the seventies therefore also remain in full cover.

Series by Jongsma, build years and cover
Caresse is a sailing yacht from Jongsma, built from 1971 to 1978.
Caresse 34 is a sailing yacht from Jongsma, built from 1971 to 1978.
Caresse 43 is a sailing yacht from Jongsma, built from 1971 to 1978.
Caresse 46 is a sailing yacht from Jongsma, built from 1971 to 1978.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
