Worth knowing
Kinetic Catamarans; cover, cost and conditions
One model range is in our portfolio, the KC 54 catamaran with cabins, with years of construction from 2018 to 2023. No further models are recorded. A small number of units built changes nothing about insurability, because NAMMERT accepts small series and home builds into cover.
For a boat from these years of construction an agreed value is set which fixes the value before the loss. Full hull cover pays compensation with no deduction for depreciation and additionally covers collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard.
Beneath this there is always third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in the Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium levels. If the sum insured exceeds 2.5 million euros, an individual assessment takes the place of taking out cover online. Cover also applies in winter storage and during craning.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can a single model without a large production run be insured?
Yes, small series and home builds can be insured. The premium is based on type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area or engine output and cruising range, never on the brand.
What is covered during craning and in winter storage?
Cover applies during craning, during launching, along the transport route and in winter storage. Damage in winter storage is part of limited hull cover, while vandalism and theft of parts belong to full hull cover.

Series by Kinetic Catamarans, build years and cover
KC 54 is a cabin catamaran from Kinetic Catamarans, built from 2018 to 2023.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
