Worth knowing
Petersen; cover, cost and conditions
Four model ranges are on record, three sailing yachts and one cabin catamaran, with construction periods between 1972 and 1988. For sailing boats and catamarans the premium is based on the sail area instead of the engine output, along with value, year of construction, type of boat and cruising range.
A cabin catamaran is classified differently from a monohull, because the type of boat and the cruising range are recorded separately. In both cases third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros remains the basis of the policy, graded by tariff level.
Production ended in the eighties, so these are used boats. We provide cover regardless of the year of construction, the place of purchase and previous owners. Under full hull cover an agreed value applies with no deduction for depreciation (new for old), in the Premium tariff with no age limit.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Is a catamaran classified differently from a sailing yacht?
The type of boat is a factor of its own in the premium, alongside value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range. Both types occur side by side at Petersen.
What must be observed for races?
Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards. State races with scoring status when the policy is taken out so that they are taken into account in the policy.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On catamarans the bridgedeck between the hulls is the sensitive part, and the berth belongs in the application: double width often means a mooring rather than a marina.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
