Worth knowing
Sea Eagle; cover, cost and conditions
Anyone taking over a second-hand motorboat should establish the replacement value before taking out cover. With the Sea Eagle 240 and 240 FB ranges from the years of build 1976 to 1984, the only route is via the second-hand market. The agreed value is replaced in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation, new for old.
Two model ranges over some eight years make for a narrow programme whose production lies far back. For acceptance this is no obstacle, because we insure regardless of year of build, place of purchase and previous owners. Small series and home-built boats are insurable as well.
The premium is determined by the type of boat, the value, the year of build, the engine power and the cruising range. Limited hull cover carries fire, storm, lightning strike, theft of the entire boat and damage in winter storage, and full hull cover adds collision, grounding, vandalism and theft of parts including the outboard.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
What happens if the market value fluctuates?
The agreed value remains decisive. It is replaced in the event of a claim with no deduction for depreciation, new for old, in the Premium tariff with no age limit, regardless of fluctuations on the second-hand market.
Is a boat from the year 1980 still insurable?
Yes. We insure regardless of year of build, place of purchase and previous owners. What is decisive is the agreed value as well as the classification according to type of boat, engine power and cruising range.

Series by Sea Eagle, build years and cover
Sea Eagle 240 is a motorboat from Sea Eagle, built from 1977 to 1984.
Sea Eagle 240 FB is a motorboat from Sea Eagle, built from 1976 to 1983.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On a motorboat the drive is the single most valuable part. Damage after grounding is covered, an engine failure from wear is not.
