Steeler Yachts; cover, cost and conditions
Steeler builds steel and aluminium yachts between 11 and 20 metres in the Netherlands in a modern design language, displacement and semi-displacement hulls, many of them with hybrid or fully electric propulsion. Electric propulsion is the point that is new in insurance terms: on these yachts the battery bank accounts for a considerable share of the value.
In many other policy wordings a propulsion battery counts as a consumable part and is therefore excluded from cover. With us it belongs to the insured propulsion system. What you have to do: reflect the value of the battery bank in the sum insured, which on an electric yacht is easily 40,000 euros and more. After every conversion or replacement the agreed value should be adjusted, otherwise you are insuring a system that no longer exists.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.
Waters
Inland, coastal and abroad; plan fairways, bridge clearances, draught and tides.
Equipment
Lifesaving gear, fire extinguisher, anchor, signalling equipment and correct navigation lights.
