Worth knowing
TPI; cover, cost and conditions
Under TPI one sailing yacht is recorded, the Freedom 33 from the years of construction 1977 to 1988. We have no further information, and we do not add any. For the premium calculation this is sufficient, because what matters is solely the data of the individual boat.
With a sailing yacht the sail area takes the place of engine power. Together with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range it produces the premium. The name of the yard does not enter into it, not even when only a single range is known.
Third-party liability forms the basis with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros in Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. Club races are included from Basis-Plus upwards, and races with a scoring status are declared when you take out the policy. In full hull cover a firmly agreed value applies.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
How does the sail area enter the premium?
On sailing boats and sailing yachts it replaces engine power as a factor. Added to that are type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range, and the brand is left out in every case.
Can a Freedom 33 from 1980 be taken into full hull cover?
Yes. In the Premium tariff full hull cover applies without an age limit, and the compensation follows the firmly agreed value and is paid with no deduction for depreciation ("new for old").

Series by TPI, build years and cover
Freedom 33 is a sailing yacht from TPI, built from 1977 to 1988.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
