Worth knowing
Via Marine; cover, cost and conditions
For the Via 42, years of construction between 1978 and 1992 are recorded, and further ranges of this brand are not available. A sailing yacht from that period comes second-hand today, and NAMMERT insures regardless of year of construction, place of purchase and previous owners.
Third-party liability with a limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros is the basis of the policy, selectable in Basis, Basis-Plus and Premium. It applies to damage to third parties and remains important regardless of what value your own vessel still has today.
If full hull cover is added, the agreed value applies with no deduction for depreciation, in the Premium tariff without an age limit. For the premium, type of boat, value, year of construction, sail area and cruising range count, so that the classification depends solely on the vessel and not on the name.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Why is third-party liability important even with an older vessel?
Because it covers damage to third parties, the amount of which has nothing to do with the value of your own boat. A limit of indemnity of 10 to 50 million euros can be chosen.
Can the yacht be insured without hull cover?
Third-party liability forms the basis, and limited hull cover and full hull cover are added as modules. Which combination fits depends on the value, year of construction and cruising range of the vessel.

Series by Via Marine, build years and cover
Via 42 is a sailing yacht from Via Marine, built from 1978 to 1992.
For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
