Five motor boat ranges are on record: the Flying Shark 4.2 and 5.7 as well as the Redbird 2.7 are built to this day; the Redbird 5.7 and the original Flying Shark were discontinued in 2021 and 2019 respectively. Whether a current or a discontinued model, insurance is based on the data of the boat.
With motor boats the engine output enters into the premium, along with type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. The make stays out of it. If a more powerful engine is fitted later, this should be reported so that the policy and the agreed value match the boat.
The outboard is covered against theft of parts through the full hull cover, and against vandalism as well; added to this are collision and grounding. For the way to the water, craning, launching and transport are included, and a boat trailer is included at no extra premium.

Does the engine output count towards the premium?
With motor boats it is one of the factors, alongside type of boat, value, year of construction and cruising range. You should report a later conversion so that the details in the policy are correct.
Can the models still being built also be insured straight away?
Yes. Up to a sum insured of 2.5 million euros the policy is taken out online; above that an individual assessment follows. New build or used boat makes no difference here.

Licence
A powerboat licence (inland or coastal) is required from 15 hp (11.03 kW).
Registration
Registration from 3 hp; for trips abroad carry the boat certificate or flag document.
