Where the two differ, the German text decides:
A-2.1.2.2.3 Reduction for prior impairment. A prior impairment exists where affected parts of the body, internal organs or sensory organs were already permanently impaired before the accident. It is assessed in accordance with A-2.1.2.2.1 and A-2.1.2.2.2. The degree of permanent impairment is reduced by this prior impairment. Example: if an arm has completely lost its function, the degree of permanent impairment is 70 per cent. If the function of this arm was already impaired by one tenth before the accident, the prior impairment is 7 per cent (one tenth of 70 per cent). This prior impairment of 7 per cent is deducted. A degree of permanent impairment caused by the accident of 63 per cent remains.
