From the seventies into the two-thousands, Waarschip built fast yachts between 7 and 11 metres in the Netherlands, light hulls with hard chines, many of them built in plywood epoxy, some as a kit. These are fast boats with committed owners and active class associations.
For plywood epoxy hulls the wood rule applies: a valuation report as the basis of the agreed value, a surcharge from a sum insured of 20,000 euros upwards, ageing counts as wear. With boats that were built from a kit there is the additional point that build quality varies, and a cleanly built boat is a different risk from an improvised one. Keep the build documents and photographs, they are the decisive evidence in the valuation.
