Waterwolf; cover, cost and conditions
In Germany, Waterwolf builds electric surfboards with an external drive, a design that differs from enclosed jet boards and carries the propeller visibly beneath the tail. That makes maintenance easy, but it turns the propeller into the exposed component: contact with the bottom, with floating debris or with lines damages it first. Such damage is covered in full hull cover under collision and grounding.
The open drive has a liability side that should not be overlooked. A running propeller at body height in the water is a source of injury, and personal injury is the most expensive case imaginable, regardless of the fact that the device is worth only a few thousand euros. Our boat third-party liability covers personal injury, property damage and financial loss with ten to fifty million euros; on a device with an open drive, that is the real reason for the policy.
For use, the rules for motorised water sports devices apply: marking from 3 hp, a licence on inland waters from 15 hp, no operation in Bavaria and on Lake Constance. The battery should be charged as specified by the manufacturer, in the supplied case and under supervision; then a thermal event is covered by our hull insurance.

Why is third-party liability particularly important here?
The drive is exposed and the propeller runs at body height. Personal injury is the most expensive case and has nothing to do with the material value of the device.
Is damage to the propeller covered?
In full hull cover, yes, in the case of collision, floating debris and grounding. Wear on the propeller is not.

Waterwolf MPX-3 is a jetboard or eFoil from Waterwolf, built since 2014, and today changes hands at between €7,000 and €13,000.
For a series built in these years the market value and the replacement cost often differ widely. An agreed value removes the age-based scale, and the figure in the policy stands.
On jetboards and eFoils the battery is the point: a fire is covered, a loss of capacity over the years is wear.
As the series is still in production, parts are available and repair costs are predictable. Even so, value it at replacement cost including retrofitted electronics, not at list price.
