A seasonal policy is not an added benefit but a restriction: cover applies from 1 April to 31 October and not outside those months. The policy term stays one year. If you do not use the boat in that time anyway, you pay less for it. How much exactly is what the slider above works out with our own rates: on a boat worth sixty thousand euros it is around one hundred and thirty euros a year.

What matters is what applies over the winter: with us, standard hull cover is in place throughout the lay-up, ashore or afloat. Fire in the storage shed, storm damage out in the open yard, theft from the premises, all of it covered, even though no premium falls due in these months.

What stays uncovered is what is never covered: frost damage from failing to drain the systems counts as maintenance. Winterising the boat remains your job, seasonal policy or not.
