Comfortina built cruising yachts between 10 and 12 metres in Sweden, solidly built yachts with good sailing behaviour and solid wood interiors, widely found in the Baltic. The yard no longer produces, the yachts continue to sail and hold their value steadily.
On yachts of this generation, the standing rigging is the issue that decides the hull cover. Shrouds and stays are wear parts with a service life of ten to fifteen years; after that the risk of a dismasting rises sharply. A dismasting caused by material fatigue is not covered, one caused by an event is. Anyone taking over a used yacht should know the age of the rig and renew it if necessary.
