Worth knowing
Asmus Werft; cover, cost and conditions
Asmus Werft is recorded with 18 models, 17 of them sailing yachts and one open sailing boat. The Hanseat range dominates: the Hanseat 33, 35, 35 MS, 37, 37 A, 38, 40 and 42 cover 10 m to nearly 13 m, joined by the Hanseat 70 in its B II and MK-III versions and the Hanseaten dinghy at 6.4 m. Recorded production runs from 1962 to 1993.
Asmus Werft yachts are all classic used boats today, many of them sailing for decades and carefully maintained. For such vessels the agreed value is the decisive point: it fixes the value in advance instead of leaving a claim to a market value figure that does not reflect a well kept yacht. A clear arrangement for rig, sails and engine also helps, as do accurate details of berth and winter storage. At lengths of 10 to 13 m the cruising area belongs precisely in the policy, with the Baltic and the North Sea treated separately.
NAMMERT insures Hanseat yachts from Asmus Werft regardless of year of build and regardless of whether the boat was bought privately or through a broker. Classics from the nineteen sixties and seventies are expressly included. The premium is calculated in the online quote tool in about five minutes.
Questions and answers
Frequent questions
Can a Hanseat 35 from 1971 still be insured?
Yes. For yachts of this age an agreed value is the right basis, because the well kept condition of many Hanseats is not reflected by market value alone.
Do rig and sails count as part of hull cover?
They belong in the declared value and can be included in the cover. On the larger Hanseats from 11 m upwards this makes sense, since renewing a rig accounts for a significant share of the boat value.

For a series of this age there is no list price left. That is why we work with an agreed value: you state the figure, we agree it, and in a total loss exactly that amount is paid, with no deduction for wear.
On sailing yachts the rig and the underwater hull are the expensive parts: a dismasting quickly costs a quarter of the boat, and osmosis counts as wear and is covered by no hull policy.
On boats this size the condition of rig and fittings decides. A dismasting is covered, worn terminals after years are not.
